About us
Soil & Roots cultivates deep discipleship through resources and guided ecosystems called Greenhouses that help people explore the hidden parts of themselves with Jesus.
THE VISION BEHIND
SOIL & ROOTS
The aim of God in history is the creation of an all-inclusive community of loving persons with God himself at the very heart of this community as its prime Sustainer and most glorious Inhabitant.
DALLAS WILLARD
Soil & Roots began with a simple but urgent question: Why do so many followers of Jesus know what they believe yet struggle to experience the deep transformation described in Scripture?
We exist to help recover the journey of deep discipleship—becoming more like Jesus from the inside out over time. Through resources and guided ecosystems called Greenhouses, people learn to explore the hidden ideas, desires, stories, and wounds shaping their lives and increasingly open those places to Jesus.
history of soil & roots
Soil & Roots began as a podcast through which founder Brian Fisher explored a deeply personal question: Why do so many followers of Jesus know what they believe yet struggle to experience meaningful transformation in their everyday lives?
That exploration grew into the book Soil & Roots: Cultivating Deep Discipleship and eventually into the first Greenhouse—a guided community created to test what deep, interior formation could look like in practice.
Through those early experiences, Soil & Roots developed a clearer understanding of deep discipleship and the kind of ecosystem that supports it. Today, the organization creates resources and cultivates Greenhouses that help people explore the hidden parts of themselves with Jesus and trusted friends.

FOUNDER & President
Brian Fisher is the founder and president of Soil & Roots. For more than twenty-five years, he has led organizations, written six books, and helped people explore the relationship between faith, formation, and everyday life.
His own journey through suffering and interior transformation led him to ask why so many followers of Jesus know what they believe yet struggle to experience deep change. That question became the Soil & Roots podcast, the book Soil & Roots: Cultivating Deep Discipleship, and eventually the Greenhouse.
Brian lives with his wife, Jessica, in the Dallas area, and they have two young adult sons.
