Ep 51: Trapped in the System (GH)

Why do our actions often tell a different story than our theology? In this Greenhouse discussion, Brian Fisher and Kyle Moody continue the conversation from Episode 50 by exploring the gap between our stated beliefs and the deeper ideas that actually shape our lives. Through personal stories and honest reflection, they wrestle with the uncomfortable reality that many of our heart-level assumptions don't always align with what we know to be true. The discussion revisits the Six Core Ideas and explores how identity, value, power, purpose, and love are formed over time through relationships and experiences. Brian and Kyle also examine why spiritual transformation requires more than information, and why Greenhouses create space for the vulnerability, trust, and relational experiences that help our deepest ideas gradually become aligned with the ideas of Jesus.

Beliefs vs Ideas – Greenhouse Discussion

Is there really a difference between the unconscious ideas that govern us and our stated beliefs?

In this very personal episode(that expounds on Episode 50), Brian asks Kyle to share parts of his own story that reveal what we all struggle with – a disconnect between our bedrock desires and ideas and the Christian beliefs we espouse. Making room in our lives to recognize these gaps, and in our hearts, for communities to help us better integrate our ideas and beliefs, is a foundational aspect of discipleship.

Then the guys explore how our unconscious ideas about vulnerability impact many of our Christian behaviors, including how we approach and read the Bible. Lots to explore in this densely-packed episode as we continue to dig into the fourth key element of formation – intimacy.
